The Yorkshire Barn cafe is the on-site cafe at Murton Park (The Yorkshire Museum of Farming). We serve breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas, seven days a week. Everything is made on-site and we care about the environment (all biodegradable/compostable packaging and no single-use plastics). We are well known for our chocolate brownies and cakes, so we're the place to be if you have a sweet tooth!
Job description
We are looking for happy and polite servers to work in our cafe, we want Yorkshire Barn to be the place to go for good food, cakes and coffee. But what will make the visit a more pleasurable experience for our customers will be the friendly staff who provide a warm welcome and efficient service.
We are looking for part-time staff members, to work weekends and some week days during school holidays where available.
Core duties will include
- Serving customers
- Making drinks, including using an espresso machine (with training)
- Using the Epos till system (with training)
- Taking orders out to customers and clearing tables
- Light cleaning throughout the day and a full clean of equipment and counter at the end of the shift.
- Smiling
Ideally, you will have worked in a similar environment before and have some experience serving customers, but we can offer training. We can be flexible about working hours, but the busier times and days need to be covered, so we expect some flexibility from our staff too.
We offer a good hourly rate, which starts at £10 per hour for over 18's. We are only looking for new staff who are 17 years and over at the moment, we need staff that can be trained on the coffee machine which has age restrictions due to insurance etc.
Shifts available are Saturday and Sunday 9:30am - 4:30pm.

COVID-19 considerations:
We are providing lateral flow tests for staff to use if they wish to and we are happy for staff to wear a facemask (but this is optional). We will continue to sterilize tables between customers and will wrap cutlery after sanitizing.
