About us
WY Smith and sons is a small family run business on the outskirts of Perth.
We milk 120 pedigree holstein cows twice daily. We have a potato and grain sides to the business aswell.
A 3 bedroom house is also available with the job.
Our farm is looking for a dairyperson to work on our dairy farm. The ideal candidate has good knowledge of milking practices but isnt essential as training will be provided with this role. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to the safe and healthy treatment of our animals and will enjoy working in a family environment. Job duties include milking, maintaining the cleanliness of milking areas and ensuring that proper procedures are followed at all times.
Candidate will have responsibility with the identification and Treatment of sick cows. Any AI or foor trimming skills valued with salary but not essential. Other jobs include some tractor work with scraping and straw bedding. Our cows are outside and strip-graze from mid april to late september. And are housed through the winter months.
Responsibilities:
- Milk cows.
- Good stocksmanship in identifying and treatment of sick cows
- Maintain a clean environment at the farm.
- Follow all safety procedures when working with livestock.
- Straw bedding done with a tractor, so any experience welcome but not essential as training can be provided.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £30,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
