The Trust engages and inspires people to make their difference tackling the nature and climate crisis helping protect, restore and create our vital woods and trees.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Social Media Manager to lead our social media team at the Woodland Trust and drive forward our social media engagement strategy.

Responsible for leading and enabling the delivery of high-quality content across all our social media channels, the role involves planning the social media schedule; ensuring the team plan their content, making the most of external opportunities and shaping internal stories effectively to maximise impact.
The Social Media Manager will confidently work with our Senior Digital PR and Influencer Relationships Officer on the influencer strategy to collaborate on appropriate opportunities to maximise awareness of the Woodland Trust with new audiences. The role will also involve engaging with internal teams on content approach and sharing best practise along with carrying out and communicating monthly health checks on our channels, quickly responding to emerging patterns, audience behaviours or changes in algorithms.

This role is critical in helping us to inspire and engage our social media audiences with the work of the Woodland Trust and encourage people to take action with us.

This is a Hybrid working role, where you’ll work part of your time at home and part of the time from our Head Office based in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Our Hybrid Working Policy is flexible, and the frequency of time spent in your contracted office will vary across teams and job roles.

THE CANDIDATE

You’ll be a collaborative worker who enjoys active listening and taking action when it’s needed.
Your ability to lead and shape the direction of a team will be invaluable along with your curious nature which will enable to you to get the best out of our test and learn approach at the Trust. You will be insight led, ensuring our content approach is driven by audience insight and you’ll be comfortable disseminating this to internal teams.

You’ll have strong presentation, influencing and negotiation skills and be comfortable managing contentious issues on social media, escalating when appropriate. You’ll also be a confident communicator, used to working with a variety of internal teams, managing and prioritising multiple, sometimes conflicting projects.

You will be experienced advising on and developing social media strategies and will have extensive experience of all social media channels, preferably within a not-for-profit organisation.

WHAT TO EXPECT BY JOINING A TEAM AND MAKING A DIFFERENCE
There’s no other organisation like the Woodland Trust. Joining the team you will be making your contribution to tackling the nature and climate crisis. In return, we recognise and value our people. You'll have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development, along with a contributory pension, life assurance, good holiday allowance and the opportunity to work flexibly from home.

OUR COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
At the Woodland Trust, we want to reflect and represent the full richness of diversity in the UK. Fewer of our employees are Black, Asian or minority ethnic; disabled; from lower socio-economic backgrounds or under 25; so we are particularly keen to receive your application if you are from one or more of these groups. We can also discuss anything you may need to achieve your full potential at any stage of the process. We assess your application solely on your demonstrated suitability for the job. Nothing else.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications. If you are interested, we'd encourage you to submit your application as early as possible.
