WWT Washington Wetland Centre is a customer focussed visitor attraction in Tyne and Wear.

We are looking to recruit a Collection Keeper who can support our Collection Manager in achieving the highest standards in animal husbandry including ensuring the success of our breeding plan for our collection of wildfowl and family of Asian short clawed otters.

Other duties will include promoting public engagement by delivering high quality talks/events to visitors about the exhibited species and maintaining exhibits to the highest standards through vegetation management, signage, water flow and pest management. The post holder will also take on ownership of the infrastructure areas of the department’s work plan, having prior experience in construction and maintenance of items such as fence lines and animal housing.

The successful candidate will be educated to GCSE standard with previous animal husbandry experience, especially aviculture. They will possess excellent communication skills, have a great eye for detail and be keen to be part of the forward thinking and driven team here at the centre.
