THE FOLLOWING VACANCY HAS BEEN ADVERTISED EXTERNALLY.

CCTV Officer
Regional Scientific Support Services
Calder Park, Wakefield

2 x permanent full-time positions

West Yorkshire Police is looking to appoint 2 CCTV Officers to join the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Scientific Support Services (RSSS) and be part of our busy operational team based at Calder Park, Wakefield.

We are seeking highly motivated candidates to join us in the CCTV section, where the main tasks will include the delivery of a comprehensive CCTV service to investigative officers and teams from across the region. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to progress their career within a field which continues to develop. You will need to be self-confident, capable of learning quickly, have good communication skills, and work well as part of a team.

In this role, you will undertake technical processes in the forensic retrieval, analysis, enhancement of CCTV images and other evidential material. You will also provide specialist support, advice, and technical assistance, which meets the investigative requirements of all four forces within the Yorkshire and Humber region. This will include attendance at and around crime scenes to facilitate the forensic recovery of CCTV media and to ensure that retrieval is carried out in an evidentially safe manner that satisfies all local, national and Home Office guidelines.

Eligible candidates will come with a relevant degree or previous experience of working in an associated field. Candidates will also have a proven understanding of computer hardware to component level, as well as a working knowledge of relevant common operating systems such as MS Windows.

Due to the nature of the role, you must be prepared to work at heights and in confined spaces. You must also have the physical and emotional resilience to be able to deal with images and scenes of a disturbing nature. Successful completion of a manual lifting and handling course is also a requirement. You will also be required to participate in a standby rota and to work for periods unsupervised.

Applicants must be prepared to travel for business purposes; possession of a full current UK/European driving licence is therefore essential.

The Imaging Unit, CCTV Section, has successfully achieved ISO17025 accreditation and as a CCTV Officer, you will be required to both work to these standards and to assist in maintaining them.

Successful candidates will be entitled to the following benefits:

  • A starting salary £28,530 rising to £30,375 over 4 years.
  • A generous annual leave allowance of 27 days per year, rising to 32 days after 5 years.
  • A generous pension scheme.
  • An employee assistance service, accessible 24/7.
  • Participation in a ‘cycle to work’ scheme and ‘salary sacrifice’ car leasing scheme.

Please refer to the role profile for the post before completing and provide evidence in support of your application. Please focus on how you meet the requirements of the post from your experience.

These posts will operate on a shift rota and will attract a 12.5% shift allowance plus weekend enhancements.

Closing date for applications: 23:55 hours on 7th May 2023.

The post is suitable for job share.
