Our Underwriting team is central to our Mortgage Operations function; they provide the framework through which decisions are made regarding our mortgage applications. We pride ourselves in putting our customers at the heart of everything we do, so we need to ensure that we make responsible lending decisions that keep our customers (and ourselves) safe.

We’ve a new opportunity for a talented individual to join this amazing team as an Underwriter. You’ll be responsible for underwriting mortgage applications up to a £500,000 mandate limit. We need a good decision maker – but above all, everything that you’ll do will be in accordance with internal & external policies, regulations & guidelines. It’s also really important that you demonstrate adherence to Responsible Lending Principles at all times.

Day to Day you’ll

• Be underwriting mortgage applications in line with your delegated authority and in line with policy, whilst fully demonstrating that your decision has been made responsibly. We need someone who is Insatiably Curious and isn’t afraid to ask questions.
• Building professional relationships with our Intermediary partners, keeping them informed throughout the mortgage process.
• Providing advice and recommendations to stakeholders, Brokers, Customers and Colleagues regarding loans in line with your delegated authority. Straight up - honesty and professionalism is key.

To be successful you’ll need to bring

• Experience of working in a similar role and within Financial Services.
• Strong relationship building skills (particularly with key stakeholders and third-party companies)
• A track record of protecting customers by using your insatiable curiosity to uncover suspicious activity
• You must be able to demonstrate that you’ve made responsible decisions.
• Experience of finding new ways to continuously improve processes in a practical, pragmatic, but safe manner.

The following would be brilliant...but not essential…

• Experience in a mortgage’s role
