The University of Strathclyde is a leading international technological university based in the centre of Glasgow. Inspired by our founding principle as ‘a place of useful learning’, our mission is to make a positive difference to the lives of our students, to society and to the world.

We’re seeking an enthusiastic and organised Internal Communications Assistant to join our Media & Corporate Communications team.

The successful applicant will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and play a key role in helping to coordinate and deliver internal communications activities, producing engaging content that brings Strathclyde’s strategy to life and reinforces the shared values of the University community.

We’re looking for a good all-rounder, with a keen eye for a good story, excellent copyrighting skills and the ability to build and maintain strong and effective working relationships with colleagues across the University.

The successful candidate will possess an HNC or equivalent in administration, communications or a creative environment and will be based in our city centre campus and operate on a hybrid-working basis, joining a vibrant and cosmopolitan community of over 4,500 staff and 23,000 students from over 100 countries.

Applications for part-time working will be considered.

Strathclyde was named the Times Higher Education UK University of the Year 2019, the Sunday Times Good University Guide Scottish University of the Year 2020 and was awarded a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education for its excellence in energy innovation in 2020 and for excellence in advanced manufacturing in 2022.
We are a values-based organisation that is:

  • People-oriented: committed to our staff and students, providing opportunities and investing in their development.
  • Bold: confident and challenging about what we do, and supportive of appropriate and managed risk in our decision-making.
  • Innovative: focused on discovering and applying knowledge with impact, and encouraging creative thinking and new ideas.
  • Collaborative: working together, internally and externally, with integrity and in an open, respectful way.
  • Ambitious: for our institution, staff and students as well as supporting the ambitions of our partners.

Brief Outline of Job:

As part of the Marketing & Communications department, the post holder will play a key role in sharing Strathclyde's story, helping to inspire, engage and educate staff and embed the University’s vision, values and strategic themes.

Reporting to the University’s Internal Communications Officer, you will support the day to day delivery of all internal communications activity to staff; sourcing, creating and managing content for our key channels and using creative, dynamic ways to bring it to life.

If you think you’ve got the skills, enthusiasm and experience required to succeed in this exciting opportunity please apply.

Interviews are scheduled to take place on 14 February 2023.
