The post-holder will work as part of the EPR Programme to ensure that patient related data held within the Trust is accurate and complete to enable reliable and robust reporting to support clinical and business processes, statutory information returns and income generation.

To support the recording of high quality data on the Trusts patient-based systems.

To use systems to identify data quality issues on the Trusts patient-based systems using a variety of tools and in collaboration with the services identify the root causes of the issues.

To work with the services to develop solutions to the issues e.g development of standard operating procedures.

Monitor and report on performance and improvements until the data quality levels required are sustainably achieved.

Be an expert in all aspects of data quality and patient data management ensuring knowledge and adherence to all relevant national policy and procedures.

EPR will connect data and information and provide secure access into each individual’s complete health record, removing the need for hand-written notes and forms. Clinical staff will have instant access to the patient information they need, wherever they need it, and with less time looking for records, or waiting for results to update, they can dedicate more time caring for those that need it most.

In time, patients will be able to manage their own appointments, review test results, respond to messages and manage their own health through a secure online patient portal.

The successful applicant will be expected to attend and complete relevant training and development opportunities to support our UHCWi directives. This may include training sessions such as Lean for Leaders, Advanced Lean Training, and the Human Factors Programme, and more. The attendance and completion of identified courses is considered essential and a pre requisite for this post.

  • Ensure you are up to date with all relevant national and local guidance, policy and procedures relating to data quality and patient data management.
  • Develop and sustain an in depth knowledge of the use of iPM, the Trust’s PAS, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of functionality and use.
  • Identify data quality issues on the Trusts patient-based systems.
  • Validate patient’s journeys ensuring the data quality is exceptional and accurate.
  • Use the NHS Care Record Service to find and verify NHS numbers, addresses, postcodes, GPs etc. for all active patients and update IPM.
  • Create, develop and maintain data quality reports and robust processes in order to check and correct patient data and ensure the accuracy of that data and to monitor any problem areas.
  • Collaborate with services to establish the root cause of the data quality issues and with the Data Quality & Assurance Manager and operational staff to develop and implement solutions. This will involve direct support as well as utilising other expertise in the team and beyond.
  • Cerner and IPM experience is highly desirable
