About us

The Develomental Risk and Resilience Unit (DRRU) is part of UCL's Division of Psychology and Language Sciences - the largest and highest ranking psychology department in the UK, undertaking world-leading research and teaching across the areas of mind, behaviour and language. The central aim of our research is to better understand mechanisms of developmental vulnerability and resilience (https://drru-research.org/). This project comes from an NIHR Strategic Priorities Fund, awarded to Professors Essi Viding and Pasco Fearon to develop a school-based transdiagnostic, preventative intervention for adolescent mental health.

About the role

This is a 14-months, fixed-term role until August'2024, in the first instance. Start date: 19th June 2023. Your role will primarily involve recruitment and testing of participants, as well as providing administrative support for all aspects of the project. You will be expected to travel to schools in London and South-East of England to conduct the screening and testing of adolescent participants using a battery of questionnaires and experimental measures. An acceptable DBS check is required to carry out this role. The role is eligible for hybrid working, dependent on the project schedule.

About you

The ideal candidate should have: 1) excellent interpersonal skills to establish good relationships with young people, families and professionals and communicate well with the wider project team. 2) an undergraduate degree in psychology or neuroscience at 2:1 or above AND: i) A masters level qualification in a relevant subject area OR, ii) currently enrolled in a relevant masters level programme OR, iii) 1+ years of research assistant experience working with children and young people 3) experience working with children and young people in a research, clinical or school environment and of testing and interviewing child and adolescent participants.

We offer a salary in the range of £35,702- £37548 per annum (Grade 6/SP 25-27), inclusive of London Allowance.
