The mission of the UCL GOS Institute of Child Health is to improve the health and well-being of children, and the adults they will become, through world-class research, education and public engagement. The UCL GOS ICH, together with its clinical partner Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, forms the largest concentration of children’s health research outside North America. GOS ICH’s activities include active engagement with children and families, to ensure that our work is relevant and appropriate to their needs. About the role

The post is set in the Zhou Lab in close collaboration with the Dubowitz Neuromuscular Centre at UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. The post will be co-supervised by Dr Haiyan Zhou, Prof Francesco Muntoni and Dr Sara Aguti. The post is funded by Muscular Dystrophy UK. The aim of the project is to develop a novel cell-targeted delivery method to enhance the in vivo delivery of antisense oligonucleotides (ASO) for the treatment of congenital muscular dystrophies. The successful applicant will join a leading international research team engaged in nucleic acid therapy preclinical development. The post will have the great opportunity to work and collaborate with other internationally leading research and clinical teams in neuromuscular disorders. The post is available for 12 months, in the first instance

About you

Applicants must hold a MSc in biomedical science, or a closely related discipline. Experience in molecular biology and in vitro models and methodologies relevant to the field, including, for example, cell culture, RT-qPCR, immunostaining, fluorescence microscopy and imaging. You will have an excellent attention to detail and the ability to work flexibly under varied workload and pressure to meet deadlines.
