About the role

As a Network Engineer within Technical Operations, you will be responsible for configuration, installation and operation of wired and wireless network infrastructure. You'll provide network service provision and customer support as well mentor, coach, train and support 2nd line support team members. Please note, this will be based fully onsite on our Bloomsbury campus. In the event we get a high number of applications, we may close the advert early before the published closing date. About you

As a networking professional you have experience installing and supporting data networks within a large organisation located across a number of sites and have supported both wired and wireless networks across multiple platforms (e.g. PC, Mac). You understand the issues involved in central management of very large numbers of systems, that are geographically distributed, and the need for strict change control. Additionally, you have working knowledge of network technologies, hardware and infrastructure and experience in the design, deployment and support of switched networks. You are also able to demonstrate the following: - Knowledge of network security principles, and experience of their application in a complex and diverse network environment - Commitment to the provision of a high-quality user-focused service - Experience using an online fault logging/tracking system - Knowledge of Cisco IOS - Experience using a cable management system to trace infrastructure and installation details - Excellent problem solving skills including an ability to diagnose complex hardware and software faults - Excellent communication skills - Be able to work under pressure including ability to multitask and prioritise work You are professional and supportive towards colleagues, staff, students and others and are able to work as part of a team with minimum day-to-day supervision with a willingness to share knowledge with colleagues. Additionally, you'll be able to demonstrate the following ways of working indicators: - Switching easily between tasks for different groups and stakeholders - Documenting and sharing solutions - Anticipating issues and adjusting approaches when necessary
