The Finance Division, headed by Charu Gorasia, Chief Financial Officer is part of Professional Services and is divided into three sections: Finance Business Partnering, Financial Planning and Analysis and Finance Services. The Chief Financial Officer reports to the President and Provost and is a member of the Professional Services Leadership Team. She is responsible for the management of UCL's financial performance and strategy and for the provision of services and advice.

About the role

In this job you'll be a key member of the Professional Services Finance department, which is responsible for providing assistance with the production and preparation of budgets, forecasts, and management accounting reports for the Professional Services (PS) Departments and Vice-Provost/President (VP) Offices. PS & VP budgets total £111m revenue and £455m expenditure. This role will underpin a wide range of finance support, including management accounting, budget and forecasting support and administrative and transactional finance activities.

Areas of responsibility for this job include (but are not limited to):

• Assistance with the production of monthly management accounting reports

• Preparing consistent files and templates for Budget, Forecasting and Actuals

• Support administration of the staff recruitment approval process and headcount reporting across the Department

• Raising and managing the invoicing of, or payment to, external bodies, in accordance with the terms of the agreement

• Processing journals for allocations, internal transfers, accruals, prepayments, deferrals and error corrections

• Supporting Finance teams in clearing suspense accounts

• Managing the accounts code log process

• Managing day to day queries from stakeholders across PSVP, responding professionally to finance queries or forwarding them to the relevant Management Accountant where appropriate

About you

To do this job you'll need to be actively studying for a professional accountancy qualification. You'll have excellent IT skills including advanced knowledge of Excel, and experience of reconciliation and data analysis. You'll have previous experience of using a finance system, ideally from working in a large and complex organisation.

You'll have strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, a high level of oral and written communication skills, ability to work independently whilst exercising judgement to prioritise tasks, and the ability to take independent ownership of tasks.
