We are seeking talented graduates with a passion for cyber-security and engineering with an inquisitive mind, an intrinsic interest in innovation, enthusiasm for solving complex technical engineering problems, and achieving success through teamwork. You will be provided with a unique experience to work on a range of projects from early inception to delivery in addition to early research activities pathfinding future crypto solutions.
- The 2-year graduate programme is structured upon four rotations, nominally 6 months duration, with exposure to a variety of key engineering disciplines including Systems, Software, Electronics, FPGA and Environmental Test Engineering as well as other departments outside of engineering
- Your home discipline will be within Firmware/FPGA Engineering where you will begin and end your graduate journey
- After completion of the two-year scheme, you are guaranteed a position at Ultra Cyber within the Firmware/FPGA engineering function, unless exposure to another area has prompted an interest to change discipline
- Opportunity to increase earning potential with 6-monthly pay reviews based on individual performance and embodying the Ultra Cyber ASPIRE values
- You will be provided with excellent support, including direct access to a mentor (independent of your line manager), on-the-job coaching by senior team members, and formal training in both soft and technical skills
- We encourage graduates to participate in completing their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to progress their engineering competence and work towards professional recognition of their achievements. We also help support our engineers to become chartered or incorporated
- Ultra urges all graduates to be STEM advocates through activities such as school, college and university engagement and volunteering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement FPGA firmware development in line with the company firmware development process and supporting codes of practice.
- Verify FPGA firmware by generating test benches and carrying out simulation testing using ModelSim, Verilog or SystemVerilog
- Validate FPGA firmware by carrying out integration tests on target hardware.
- Contribute to the creation of FPGA firmware requirements, architecture, and design documentation.
- Create applications/scripts in Python or .tcl to support deterministic test development.
- Ultra Cyber UK provide a unique experience to work on a range of projects from early inception to delivery as well as early research activities pathfinding future crypto solutions.
Skills Required:
- Relevant degree in a STEM related discipline with a minimum of a lower second-class honours degree.
- Experience of VHDL or equivalent FPGA development method.
- Experience of ModelSim, QuestaSim, or equivalent FPGA simulation tools.
- Knowledge of embedded VHDL design for Xilinx and/or Microsemi FPGAs.
Desirable Skills:
- Digital Design, VHDL, modelsim.
Role Requirements:
- Willing and able to obtain, and maintain, SC/DV security clearance
