About the role

The Head of Learning will develop and manage the Museum’s Learning programme of ambitious and inclusive learning experiences that achieve measurable impact on our audiences. S/he will build on our collections, research, partnerships, and exhibition seasons to achieve our mission to create advocates for the planet. The role will lead high performing staff and volunteer teams to ensure a high-quality offer for schools, families, communities and young people.

The Head of Learning will champion the role of Learning both internally and externally, providing strategic direction for the development and delivery of a creative programme of events, activities, resources, and participation initiatives. S/he will also lead long-term strategic planning of resource, ensuring that ambitious KPI’s are met effectively and efficiently.

About you

You want to support activity that will build better futures with nature and science and will have senior level experience in as well as strategy development and implementation in a museum, science centre, or equivalent setting. You have demonstrable experience of understanding audiences and developing innovative, ambitious content and programming grounded in the latest science research. You have excellent project management skills and substantial experience of leading a large team in a customer/visitor facing operation. You are highly collaborative and will bring excellent communication skills. Your excellent strategic awareness and analytical skills means you can see the big picture and adopt a structured approach to problem solving. You will have track record of successfully spotting and securing opportunities for generating new or expanding funding and/or revenue streams. You bring knowledge of the formal and informal learning sectors and experience of supporting equitable youth pathways into nature and science.
