Job Title: Events and Community Fundraising Co-ordinator

Salary: £22,547 - £24,009

Hours: Full time equivalent 37.5 hours per week

Department: Income Generation and Marketing

Location: St Michael’s Hospice, Bartestree

Reports to: Events and Community Fundraising Manager

Responsible for: Events and Community Fundraising volunteers

Job Purpose: To provide support in the delivery of local community and hospice managed events in order to generate income, nurture current supporters, attract new and encourage long-term engagement.

Responsibility Areas:

Service Delivery

  • Attend Hospice and other fundraising and networking events, presentations and collect donations.
  • Co-ordinate the recruitment, retention and thanking of fundraising volunteers
  • Organise thank you and awareness events for potential fundraising volunteers and ambassadors
  • Undertake and co-ordinate designated activities in event preparation e.g. maintaining assets and setting up event equipment
  • Conduct research and obtain quotes for fundraising resources
  • Book and manage relationships with third party service providers
  • Maintain an accurate record of fundraising resources and ensure access to resources is easily obtained
  • Maintain comprehensive records on the supporter database and utilise our database (The Raisers Edge) for reporting purposes
  • Ensure all activities comply with the Institute of Fundraising, Fundraising Regulator Code of Practice and GDPR.

Communication

  • Provide excellent customer service to our volunteers and supporters.
  • To engage with volunteers and supporters in order to maximise their contribution.
  • Respond to fundraising enquiries from the public.
  • To liaise with other Fundraising team members so that sufficient and relevant fundraising resources are maintained, up-to-date information is shared and all opportunities to increase Hospice income and profile are optimised.

Organisation

  • Develop and maintain event schedules, contacts lists and checklists.
  • Organise all fundraising resources e.g. collection tins, tables, gazebo and flags.
  • Co-ordinate the Collecting Tins campaign

Person Specification

1) Specialist Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience of delivering excellent customer care and therefore committed to building good internal and external relationships, both with staff and supporters
  • Microsoft Office use to a high standard using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Numeracy
  • Accuracy and confidentiality
  • Good standard of education; GCSE’s Maths and English or Equivalent

Desirable

  • Experience of events planning and logistics
  • Previous administration experience
  • Experience of work the voluntary sector
  • A familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or a similar CRM Database
  • Previous work with volunteers
  • Cash handling

3) Special Conditions

  • Full driving licence and must be prepared to travel throughout the county
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends as and when required to support the calendar of events. Advanced notice and Time in Lieu is given.
  • Occasional lone working for extended during events
  • Must be prepared to work in a variety of environments; this may include standing outside at events and working in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Able to set up and clear away event equipment, which will involve lifting and manual handling.
