We have exciting new job opportunities for band 6 radiographers looking to work in CT and plain film at St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals is a busy acute trust situated 8 miles from Liverpool city centre. We currently have 5 GE CT scanners, with a 6th‘one spin’ CT scanner due to come online in Spring 2023. Our service includes A&E, inpatients, outpatients, biopsies, cardiac and colon imaging. We are also an acute stroke centre, providing CT Head perfusion scanning.

We are a looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic people to join our friendly team to continue to develop the CT service. We can offer opportunities to gain further CT experience and develop knowledge in specialist CT examinations. We are a pro-active department with lots of opportunities for personal development and support with further education and CPD. The department is continually aiming to improve its service to patients. We have recently had the departments QSI accreditation renewed.

The shift rotation will involve a mixture of extended and regular days. This post will also include some out of hours and on-call commitment.

Applicants must hold the BSc in Radiography or the DCR(R) and be HCPC Registered If you have at least 4 years post qualification experience, along with at least 2 years' experience as a band 6, and you want to be part of our friendly, hard-working and forward-thinking team, apply now!

• Maintain high standards of radiographic technique at all times Participate in the shift, on-call and out of hours service
• Perform QA checks on all equipment used within radiology Abide by radiographic protocols
• Abide by all Radiation Protection regulations
• Report all equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel
• Responsible for sending accurate image data to the Picture Archiving Communication System for storage, transmission and archive
• Supervise junior radiographers, assistant practitioners and students
• Justify radiographic examinations for Radiographic Assistant Practitioners
• Ensure delivery of a patient focussed service including care comfort and dignity of all patients
• Take an active role in the general cleanliness and professional image of the department
• Responsible for assuring the safety of him/herself and others in accordance with Trust and departmental protocols e.g. COSHH, Radiation Protection etc

KEY DUTIES

CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for adhering to radiographic protocols
• Ensure clinical and professional standards are always met
• Perform all aspects of clinical and technical procedures as per departmental policy
• Perform intravenous injections as appropriate
• Comply with Health & Safety legislation for Control of Radiation, VDU use, handling of patients etc Maintain Professional Registration
• Adhere to relevant Code of Practice of Professional body

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for accurate data entry on the Radiology Information System
• To ensure the accuracy of data quality in line with departmental policies and procedures (i.e. name, date of birth, address, postcode, GP and telephone number) are all current and correct

TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSBILITIES

• Contribute to continuing education programme by attending courses and keeping abreast of current professional developments
