Quantity Surveyor (Commercial Management) – Apprenticeship programme

Join us on our quest to build for a better society by becoming a Skanska Quantity Surveyor.

As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will be part of our commercial team, where you will learn to manage all cost related aspects of construction projects. We will make it our ambition to prepare you for a successful and rewarding career in commercial management.

What will you be doing?

  • Supporting project delivery by managing subcontractors and adhering to the time-lines of the project
  • Assisting with the procurement of sub-contract packages and build strong and last-ing relationship with the sub-contractor based on good communication and trust
  • Working within the projects commercial team, measuring levels of works done
  • Liaising with site team to assess completion of works and clear for payment
  • Completing site measurements and records, day work sheets, labour and plant re-turns
  • Preparing contract documents including preparing scopes and sub-contract war-ranties
  • Working with numerical data in multiple software programmes to record payment applications and payment certificates

Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and construction professionals, you will be learning to manage the commercial success of a project. No one day is the same.

What qualification will you be studying for?
You will be studying a level 6 degree apprenticeship in Quantity Surveying at a local University.

Where will you be working?

London - most of our construction projects are in central London, however, due to the nature of construction, our work can move to various locations over time.

You will mainly be based in one of our offices and you will be visiting construction sites as part of your role.

What will we need from you?

  • 3 A levels; BTEC National Diploma or equivalent level 3 qualification. You should hold 5 GSCEs including Maths and English grade 4 or above for us to successfully enrol you on the apprenticeship
  • You will enjoy working with other people
  • You will need to be comfortable with various computer software packages, numerical data and learning to understand legal contracts
  • Enthusiasm to learn
  • New ideas to help us innovate and work better

  • Starting salary: £17 - £20K per year + London travel allowance and annual salary reviews
