POSITION SUMMARY

We are recruiting for a Photographer (Creative Studio Lead) to work onsite with our client Marks and Spencer.


You will be responsible for creating high quality digital photographs for their brand images per their specifications. Under the direction of the client project team you will ensure photo set (cameras, lighting, merchandise, materials, etc.) is fully prepared for shots and is properly handled after shots are completed.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attends any client meetings (e.g. pre-photo studio) or interacts with clients directly as necessary.
  • Ensures high quality standards in all Photo Studio client deliverables.
  • Ensures accurate, consistent, and timely completion of basic to intermediate level Photographic digital Artwork effectively using industry standard cameras, software, tools, and photographic techniques.
  • Performs assigned tasks efficiently and within the overall Photo Studio workflow and assigned budget,
  • Meets quality standards at all times for all assigned deliverables and makes recommendations to Management for improvements in tools, processes and assigned tasks.
  • Ensures quality consistency across a range of Photographic Artwork, composing shots based on layouts, creative, and art direction of more senior team
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the Company Quality Improvement Effort by ensuring proper lighting of products and by providing the Colour team with accurate information whilst recognising and adhering to approved photography brand guidelines.
  • Catalogue shots, save and export files in most efficient way as agreed with stakeholders.
  • Retouch images as necessary.
  • Prepare product and packaging for photography which may include removing product from outer packaging, removing protective film and being in contact with any food and drink products - including known allergens and alcohol.
  • Keep working area clean and tidy and ensure left over food is properly recycled to the office food bank donation point or waste area.
  • Additional duties as assigned – may include visiting a nearby M&S store.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • 4+ years of previous photography experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Thorough understanding of lighting techniques, camera equipment, technical problem solving and servicing. Ideally knowledge of Orbit view equipment.
  • Occasional travel either locally or nationally.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
  • Excellent time management skills, methodical, highly organised and able to effectively prioritise own workload.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to build a collaborative support network within both SGK and M&S, influencing where necessary.
  • Able to identify and resolve problems (e.g. if sample no show), escalating where necessary. Judgement required re: whether product samples received are of sufficient quality to photograph.
  • Able to present information in a clear manner.
  • Able to manage a budget and manage projects (from conception to completion), with strong planning skills and a drive to constantly improve the process.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning), ability to liaise effectively and clearly with management and peers.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
