Part Time General Horticulturalist

Overview Of Role

The Horticulture and Controlled Environments team are seeking to appoint a part-time General Horticulturist at the Harpenden site, to provide outstanding support to the Rothamsted science community.
This is a new vacancy within the team and will be responsible for cleaning the horticultural controlled environments, glasshouses, insectary, and other associated facilities to a high level of cleanliness. Post includes the disposal of waste, washing up horticultural consumables and insect cages, maintaining the facilities stock and compost levels, helping when required with the watering and horticultural care of plants. The role is varied and physically demanding, with an opportunity to enhance horticulture and controlled environment knowledge and skills.
The ideal candidate would have experience of cleaning to a high level of detail and have some horticultural experience; management of pests and disease would be an advantage.
There is an opportunity to support on the weekend watering rota team, if the candidate wished to engage in this, on an overtime basis.
This is a contract initially for a 3-year fixed term and attracts a salary of £18,841- £20,807 FTE per annum (pro-rated for 20 hours per week)
