An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Controller/Business Controller to join the Infrastructure team at Raynesway in Derby as it begins to establish itself as a key Delivery Business Unit (DBU) within Submarines amidst significant growth. Although primarily a Project Controls role, the team currently also covers Business Management within Infrastructure, and would welcome candidates with interest in Project Controls and Business Management.

The Infrastructure team ensure that the site infrastructure is in place and maintained to support the Raynesway businesses for current and future capabilities, with significant works planned over the next decade. The team develop and manage the various investment and project schedules to comply with moving to an improved level of planning and monitoring, aligned to the Integrated Business Planning & Controls (IBPC) standards, along with supporting our project management resource to increase our capability to proactively manage our investment portfolio.

As a Project Controller/Business Controller within Infrastructure, you will monitor, review and report the status of projects/project portfolios across the Raynesway main site, while supporting internal Business Management reporting, processes and decision-making. With ambitious plans to deliver, you would be key in ensuring successful timely delivery to cost and quality .

What you will be doing:

You will be accountable for the successful delivery to cost, specification and time for the combined Infrastructure programme.

  • Establish, develop and maintain the documentation and processes necessary to deliver the package of work or projects
  • Act as the focal point for all aspects related to Project Controls and Business Management, including supporting monthly and annual reporting or update cycles ie budgeting.
  • Provide information necessary to make management decisions to the key stakeholders/customers/senior management, supporting strategic decision making, budgeting, prioritisation and improved confidence in delivery.
  • Support Project, Programme, Contract and Business reviews and produce reports and updates as required.
  • Facilitate and coordinate Risk and Opportunity assessment activities
  • Facilitate and coordinate robust Change Management.

  • Experience of working in Project Controls and/or Business Management.
  • Experience of data analysis, reporting and presenting/summarising information.
  • Ability to deliver accurate work within service level agreements and use initiative to work through issues and barriers.
  • Experience of managing a number of tasks simultaneously, prioritising activity to meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience of using SAP and Coupa.
  • Strong experience with the MS Office software suite, primarily Excel, Powerpoint and Word.
  • An open-minded, curious, collaborative and creative approach to problem-solving, and a love of learning and applying new perspectives to your work.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines Business an individual has to hold Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not currently already have this in place.

Due to the nature of work the Business conducts and the protection of certain assets a person has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non ITAR country.
