Hours:

  • 5 over 7 days (may include evening and weekend work)
  • 37 weeks per year
  • 40 hours per week

Role:


We are recruiting for a Creative Arts Technical Coach to undertake duties in support of the work of the teaching staff in the Creative Arts Department.

This job description is written at a specific time and is subject to change as the demands of the Collegiate and the role develops. The role requires flexibility and adaptability and the employees of the Collegiate need to be aware that they may be asked to perform tasks and be given responsibilities not detailed in this job description.


Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):


  • Working with specific groups of students to offer support in lessons and workshops
  • Supporting students with 1 to 1 tutorials
  • Offering enrichment/super curricular lessons in conjunction with other teachers/CL or HOD
  • Supporting students in preparing for applications, portfolios and interviews for higher education
  • Supporting the class teacher with specific areas of expertise such as in the dark room, using sewing machines, use of workshop machinery etc
  • Support for the CA technicians in ensuring that the working environment is kept clean and tidy
  • Inspecting classroom and workshop equipment, maintaining accurate records and reporting any damage to HOD
  • Working with and assisting the Senior Technician/technician if required
  • Assisting with the construction and / or modification of equipment including mounting and display
  • Producing teaching aids, jigs and adaptations

Specialist tasks to support the curriculum area you are assigned and across Creative Arts to for example:


  • Operating the kiln on a weekly basis
  • Preparing sound equipment for performances
  • Assisting theatre technician on an ad-hoc basis when required.

The Appointed Candidate will have:


  • Experience of working with young people up to the age of 18
  • Experience of working in an educational setting
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Powerpoint and Excel
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner and effectively with other staff and pupils
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Knowledge of Child Protection/Safeguarding
  • Motivation to work with children and young people
  • Close attention to detail
