Due to further expansion and growth, we are looking for an Underwriter to join our well established, fast-paced, experienced SME Property & Packaged team, based in Stafford. Our book currently underwrites across seven Etrade products in Property, Casualty and Financial Lines. This is a great opportunity for an underwriting professional looking to join an experienced team at an exciting time of further product growth. We will provide you with the necessary support and guidance to establish your career within the SME underwriting market, developing your authority and profile within the industry.
UK SME Property & Package Underwriter (Perm)
The Opportunity:
This is an opportunity to join an established and well-respected regional underwriting team at QBE. We are currently seeking an Underwriter to join our UK SME Property & Package team in Stafford. Covering both new and existing business across our UK commercial book, you will underwrite business in accordance with the business plan and agreed authority.
Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to
  • Underwrite business within personal underwriting authority to delivery Business Plan objectives
  • Participate in all relevant meetings in order to share and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice
  • Support/Build Broker Distribution & Engagement Plans in conjunction with the Market Management Team
  • Build strong Broker & Customers relationships that leverage QBE’s proposition as the most consistent and innovative risk partner
  • Collaborate with the wider regional teams to deliver cross class client solutions and engagement
  • Work with other functions within the business to deliver customer focused solutions, including Risk Solutions, Claims, Operations and Market Management

To succeed in the role, you ideally will have:
  • Experience in underwriting commercial business lines, including Property & Package business
  • An understanding of market trends and the impact on Property & Package classes
  • A good network of Broker contacts
  • Good relationship management through interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise your tasks to gain maximum outcome
  • An open mindset that will allow you to innovate and adapt your approach to deliver customer focused solutions
  • A knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements
  • Progress towards CII qualifications
