We have a fantastic opportunity for a Yard Operative to join our team at Otford Builders Merchants, Sevenoaks.
As a member of our yard team you will be responsible for the day to day organisation of the site under the direction of the Yard Manager and Branch Manager. You will be dealing with customer requirements, putting away stock, maintaining a clean and organised yard and assisting the Yard Manager with other duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of the business.
Role and responsibilities
- Load delivery vehicles accurately
- Pick loads ready for deliveries
- Unload incoming vehicles and ensure good are put away
- Check deliveries before signing
- Serve and load customers with their requirements – only load goods on a ticket
- Keep the yard tidy, safe and well presented
- Report any Health and Safety issues to the branch manager
- Only use machinery as trained and authorised.
- Keep forklifts in good condition
- Ensure daily walk round checks are completed
- Ensure all paperwork is passed to the office promptly.
- Ensure that the security of the stock and branch is maintained as practical.
- Report stock shortages to the office
- Treat all customers with courtesy

We employ a number of experienced product specialists offering over 6,000 stocked products and tens of thousands more available to order, in a number of categories such as Bricks, Landscaping, Decorating, Bathrooms, Plumbing and much more.
Our working hours are Monday to Friday 7.00 am to 5.00 pm & every other Saturday 8.00 am to 12.00pm.
