About the Organisation:

Public Health Scotland is Scotland’s lead national agency for improving and protecting the health and wellbeing of all of Scotland’s people. Our vision is of a Scotland where everybody thrives. Our focus is on increasing healthy life expectancy and reducing premature mortality. To do this, we use data, intelligence and a place-based approach to lead and deliver Scotland’s public health priorities.

The role of the Clinical and Protecting Health Directorate is to protect the people of Scotland from infectious and environmental hazards; enable high-quality clinical and public health knowledge, research and innovation; and change clinical and public health practice by using audits at a national and local level.

The post:

The Clinical Protecting Health Directorate are seeking to appoint a Service Delivery Manager for the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Implementation Support Team (MIST). This is a unique opportunity to be part of a national team working to help reduce drug related deaths in Scotland.

You will be a member of an innovative multiagency team working directly with local partners in 26 Alcohol and Drug Partnerships to support the implementation and evaluation of an improvement approach with substance use services. The aim is to increase access, choice and quality of care for medication assisted treatment – as set out in the MAT Standards.

The candidate:

You will work across the MIST programme collaborating with colleagues both internal and external.

You will have strong communications and presentation skills, with the ability to use these to influence, negotiate and mediate in an often challenging and politicised environment.

You should be educated to degree level or equivalent, with significant levels of post graduate work experience in a related, and preferable project driven, environment. Service and/or direct project management experience – with knowledge of relevant current legislation and policy on drugs would be an advantage.

An ability to take the initiative, deal with conflicting demands and work under pressure are pre requisites for this role. As are an ability to demonstrate PHS values.

During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.

Salary placement will start at the bottom point of the scale unless individuals have previous NHS experience.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
