The Nursing Associate (NA) will assist the Nursing team in providing high quality, safe and effective, person centred patient care. They will work under direct or indirect supervision of a charge nurse to deliver physical and psychosocial care to patients attending for acute and emergency care needs.

The NA will be competent in carrying out a range of clinical procedures and will recognise and work within the limits of their competency. They will work effectively within a team, collaborating and communicating efficiently with colleagues, patients and those close to them.

The NA will be an accountable professional, acting at all times in accordance with the NMC Code and Trust policies and guidelines.
All NAs will complete the RCN Level one competencies which will form a central component of their developing professional portfolio.

Due to the ongoing success of our workforce strategy and continuing investment and expansion of our Emergency Department, we are seeking a registered Nursing Associate to join our team. The Nursing Associate is an established role within the Emergency Department and we will tailor your induction package to your particular needs, as we are aware you may not have prior experience of working within this environment. Assist in the ongoing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care

Provide and monitor care for a group of patients under indirect supervision of a Charge Nurse

Deliver evidence-based care, following treatment plans established by senior members of the Emergency Department workforce.

The NA will be able to evaluate care, identify patients at risk of deterioration and escalate care, or operational needs, as part of a multidisciplinary team

Support people to improve and maintain their mental and physical health and wellbeing, actively promoting health where appropriate

Assess, interpret and evaluate a range of observations accurately documenting, reporting and escalating findings

Demonstrate the ability to recognise and escalate both a patient’s physical and mental deterioration and escalate or seek advice from a Registered
Nurse/Healthcare Professional as appropriate

Assist in the delivery of complex care as part of a team

Work in an effective and organised way demonstrating excellent time management and organisational skills to effectively deliver person centered care to individual and groups of patients

Ensure the privacy, dignity and safety of individuals is maintained as best as possible

Ensure that high standards of Nursing care are delivered and maintained. To raise concerns when standards are not maintained following Trust policies and procedures

Work collaboratively with others to ensure the safe and timely discharge of patients aiming to avoid readmission
