Matthew Walker are a highly respected, multi-award-winning leading food manufacturer with a fantastic heritage, and our people are our main asset.
We have some exciting opportunities for Skilled Operatives to join our existing Manufacturing Team to help prepare and make pudding and cake mixes on our Day shift, working from 7:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, although some flexibility may be required, dependent upon business needs.
The Work Environment Area
Our Manufacturing Team are pivotal to our success as they are an important link in our production process, and we need high attention to detail to ensure that we continue to produce recipes to exactly the same specifications that we are known and loved for.
Some of the specific tasks may include the following :
- Weighing and measuring ingredients
- Pot feeding
- Tamping mixtures into the basins
- Making weights up on line
- Putting puddings onto trays up to 1.5kg
- Stacking trays, working on pallets on bogies
- Moving bogies on and off line
- Filling hoppers with pudding/sauce and sponge (involves working at heights and lifting 15kg buckets))
- Scraping out hoppers (involves working at heights)
- Putting inclusions into basins
- Depositing sauce from a turbo
- Sleeving and labelling
- Packing into boxes
- Preparing products for distribution
As you will see, this role is a busy one which requires a level of physical fitness and capability and many of the tasks involve standing, lifting, rotating, bending and twisting, however there is task rotation system in operation within the team to provide appropriate breaks from continuous tasks.
The pace of the role and the environment requires high a level head and some resilience, as we have daily deadlines we need to work to.
We are looking for individuals who are comfortable working within a close-knit team within a busy food production facility.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitude
Numeracy and Literacy - Good basic knowledge of both.
Reliability and punctuality - Good attendance and timekeeping
Flexibility - Ability to move and cover different shifts and roles.
Starting rate : £10.86p/h
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8.0 months
Salary: From £10.86 per hour
