Where does the role sit?
Our Payments Services Platform is looking for an Automated Test Engineer to join the team and help us deliver our mission to provide compliant and efficient payments capabilities for the Group and drive innovation to enable customers to move money confidently, quickly and securely.
As an Automated Test Engineer, you'll play a key role in driving quality software solutions into production. You’ll be continually challenged, motivated, mentored and supported and help define “Done” from a Quality perspective and deliver Test solutions in line with the Test Strategy and our Quality Engineering principles. An ideal Test Engineer will be technically literate, experienced in automated and manual testing processes, keen to learn, able to communicate well, with an interest in ensuring quality services are delivered for customers and colleagues. A willingness to get stuck in and learn on the job is crucial.
Further more, you'll:
  • Work with an Agile team of colleagues from different fields to plan and implement highly effective testing to ensure excellent delivery quality to colleagues and customers.
  • Exercise your “T-Shape” capabilities to develop and further improve the expansion of our Test Automation framework to deliver quality testing in a rapid execution timeline.
  • Be part of the Quality Engineering (Automated Test Engineers) community to learn and grow individually but also working with others to help the community improve.
  • Work collaboratively with the Product Owner as well as Engineers, Business Analysts and Scrum Masters to help building the feature team capability.
We’d love you to have previous experience/ exposure to, some of the following:
  • Technical and practical usage skills in Java, GitHub, Selenium, HP Load Runner, HP Performance Centre, Urban Code, Springboot, Websphere, Unix, MQ, WAS, CI/CD, Jira/Confluence, Jenkins, Python, Cucumber, Splunk, Dynatrace, SOAP APIs, Rest APIs, Gatlin, BDD/TDD.
  • Agile, DevOps and non-agile quality engineering practices; manual and automated testing, functional and non-functional coverage as well as documentation (all test deliverables within the lifecycle) and defect management.
  • Across all testing phases (Functional, Non Functional, UAT, Live Proving, Security)
  • Experience in Automation, preferably (but not necessarily) knowledge in application set. If not, then experience with testing and integration or introduction of 3rd Party packages/tools.
  • Working in a collaborative environment, preferably with a consistent track record delivering business value through well-rounded engineering methods and principles.
  • Experience in agile, DevOps and non-agile quality engineering practices; manual and automated testing, functional and non-functional coverage as well as documentation and defect management.

  • Good analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct root cause analyses and devise suitable action plans, this might involve thinking about a process, procedure or problem in a completely new way.
  • A proactive approach and willingness to (re)learn, you'll also help identify how innovative technologies and ways of working could transform how we interact with our customers and colleagues.
  • You’ll ideally demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and be able to think critically whilst understanding the strategic big picture.
  • Finally, you'll have a collaborative and positive style – nurturing a team culture built on personal growth, respect and recognition, which supports and celebrates the input and contributions made by everyone.
