Research Fellow - Psychology (Fixed-term 36 months)

We are looking for 3 highly motivated Research Fellows in Psychology to work with experts on diverse research programmes. The Psychology department hosts a thriving research culture focused on applied research which promotes psychological wellbeing, featuring over 50 staff and 40 research students currently. Success in REF 2021 and in external grant capture means that we can now invest in these 3 RF posts, in the following areas of strength:

1. Women’s health, (e.g. endometriosis, fertility issues, maternal health, urogynaecological conditions, implant-related issues) with a particular focus upon patient-reported outcome measurement and scale development, patient decision-making and social determinants of health), currently funded by NIHR, charities and commercial sectors and led by Professor Georgina Jones – more info here https://www.leedsbeckett.ac.uk/staff/professor-georgina-jones/

2. Psycho-oncology research, focused on improving cancer-related care and outcomes, particularly in the context of multimorbidity (when people have pre-existing conditions like dementia or diabetes), currently funded by NIHR and several charities, led by Dr Laura Ashley – more info here https://www.leedsbeckett.ac.uk/staff/dr-laura-ashley/

3. Sexual consent, prevention of sexual violence/abuse/harm, and justices (e.g., social, sexual, reproductive, victim-survivor, legal, and transformative justices), including ongoing research into online sperm donation funded by ESRC, and led by Dr Rhys Turner-Moore. Interdisciplinarity, and mixed/qualitative and creative methodologies are central to our approach to research. Each Research Fellow will work with the designated lead to support ongoing projects and to develop new funding applications. This will likely entail contributing to ethics applications, data collection, analysis and dissemination and other activities designed to maximise the scientific and applied impacts of the research.

Successful candidates will support and maximise established studies being undertaken by PhD students and other research staff and seek research funding to extend and develop existing research programmes.

Successful candidates will bring expertise in applied psychological/social science research relevant to one (or more) of the three research programmes specified above.
