Role Synopsis

This role will be situated within the Internal Technology Delivery Team (ATDT) within KPMG's EWT Function and is a direct report to the Audit Architecture Lead.

This role is for an individual to join an established architecture team, who are expanding their remit to support the release and deployment of solutions. The role holder will be a passionate technologist and a quick learner with an infrastructure engineering/support background who is enthusiastic about cloud and who wants to deepen their expertise and expand their skillset into architecture.

Academic

The role holder will have a degree in a relevant subject or will have suitable comparable work experiences, preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate both.

Key Skills

The following are considered essential for this role


  • Demonstrable experience of deploying services within Azure
  • Significant experience working with MS technologies (Windows server, SQL, AD, DNS, File Services, Clustering, ...)
  • Demonstrable experience of working with ARM templates and PowerShell to automate the delivery of components
  • Demonstrable awareness of systems thinking (considering all aspects of a solution when deploying, such as security and cost considerations with a view to continual improvement)


The following are considered desirable for this role


  • Experience designing cloud solutions
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft well architected framework
  • Experience within the M365 ecosystem
  • Deploying and administering VDI solutions
  • Exposure to DevOps tooling and ways of working


Azure Experience

Experience in a minimum of three of the following areas, along with a keen interest in learning others.


  • Automation with ARM templates, PowerShell, Terraform
  • Virtual Machines (VM Sizing, Availability, Encryption, Replication, Scale Sets & Migration)
  • Networking (VNets, Subnets, VPN & Express Route, NSG, ASG, AAG, Firewalls, ...)
  • Storage Accounts
  • SQL (Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instance)
  • Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Backup (Vaults, Operational Backup
  • Azure Site Recovery
  • Identity management (Azure AD, AADC, Managed identities, RBAC, ...)
  • Integration (AIS, Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, ...)
