We are looking to appoint a talented individual to the position of College Registrar.

The Registrar will report to the First Bursar and will take the lead in the management of the College’s legal affairs, its regulatory compliance, and by supporting the effective governance of its trustees and committee work.
The role encompasses significant governance, legal, and administrative responsibilities, working closely with the College’s senior leadership and across the full range of the College’s many activities. It is an exciting opportunity to play a critical part in the decision-making and leadership of a prestigious educational charity.

The Registrar will lead the smooth working of the College’s governance. This will include the effective operation of the College Council and Governing Body, coordination between the College’s sub-committees, and regular communication of decisions to Fellows, staff, and the student body.

The Registrar will work with the College’s senior leadership in shaping the business of Council and Governing Body. They will also take the lead for the College in ensuring its compliance with reporting and other requirements set by the Charity Commission.

Alongside their work on governance, the Registrar will lead for the College in legal affairs, including the commissioning of legal advice, ensuring that the College’s policies reflect recent changes in the law, and acting as a point of contact on questions relating to the College’s Statutes and Ordinances. As part of this work, the Registrar will manage a sizeable budget for legal advice. They will also work alongside the College Archivist as a lead on data protection issues.

The Registrar will occupy a high-profile role within the College and the ability to work effectively, not simply with senior officers, but across a large Fellowship, staff, and student body. This will require excellent judgement, communication skills, and organisation. Equally, to be effective, the Registrar will need to be able to collaborate with a wide range of people and across a broad spectrum of issues.

The Registrar will sit within the College Office and work closely with administrative assistants supporting the College’s senior officers.
