Kent Educational Psychology Service has an exciting opportunity for aspiring Educational Psychologists. As an AEP you will be supporting the Service in applying psychology to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEN and additional educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute positively and in a complementary way to service delivery, working under the supervision of an Educational Psychologist.
  • Support the provision of statutory and traded educational psychology services to a local area.
  • Develop and apply knowledge and skills in assessment, monitoring and tracking progress of children and young people with SEN.
  • Provide interventions in schools and other settings as directed by the supervising EP.
  • Contribute to service development through project work, research and evaluation.
  • Work creatively to support individually tailored solutions at an organisational and individual level based on an understanding of evidence based best practice.

We are looking for Assistant Educational Psychologists who are highly motivated, passionate, dynamic and flexible. You will need a good honours degree in psychology along with current knowledge of psychological theory and practice including up to date understanding of child development and experience of how psychology can be applied within educational or community settings. In addition, you will need to have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills along with knowledge of the context in which psychological services, schools and settings work. This is a fixed term contract with the expectation that the successful applicant will apply to gain a place on the Educational Psychology Doctorate course either after the first or second year of employment.

Kent Educational Psychology Service is an established and respected Service. We provide high quality, evidenced based practice, which is increasingly focused on systems level work. We are proud to have developed several innovative interventions and to have published associated research undertaken by members of the service.

We offer flexible working arrangements supported by a laptop and iPhone, structured induction, CPD opportunities, regular supervision and the support of an excellent dedicated administrative team. We are a busy, creative friendly team of highly supportive colleagues, who will make you feel welcome and involve you immediately in a range of interesting work with schools.

The role will require the applicant being able to travel independently to carry out this work.
