Job Purpose

The role is to assist in the scope, management and support of the Supply Chain projects within the Sofina Food Group, which include ICT and business change projects. These project timelines and objectives will be defined, implemented, and reviewed on an on-going basis.
The role provides key support to the Business, taking responsibility for the delivery of changes and business process improvements.
The role will develop and monitor the business supply chain to work on improving productivity and efficiency and reduce costs by analysing the performance and resolving issues not only in IT systems but also business processes.
The role holder must demonstrate accurate and professional delivery, with accountability for managing the existing relationship with the sites and customers, whilst ensuring the further strategic projects are delivered in line with the business plans.
As a key part of the Business Systems team this role contributes to the execution of the IT strategy, positioning business systems to deliver business value.

Young’s Seafood Limited is home of the Young’s branded range and is the leading UK fish and seafood processor providing frozen and chilled, branded and retailer branded fish. With a team of over 3,000 people across 11 sites in the UK, including Pinney’s of Scotland based in Annan and Macrae Foods based in Livingston and Fraserburgh, we work in long-term partnership with our customers to provide responsibly sourced fish to the consumer.

Young’s has over 200 years’ experience in the Seafood market and uses more than 30 species which are sourced from 5 continents. Our team takes products from conception through to production and prepares over 300 million seafood dishes for the UK consumer every year inspiring people to eat fish twice a week.

Key Accountabilities

  • Review & Analyse the supply chain to find bottlenecks and other issues
  • Create, evaluate, and report on KPIs
  • Find cost-effective solutions for supply chain processes to resolve issues that come up.
  • Collaborate with other departments to create coordinated plans that deliver sustainable improvement.
  • Contribute to the vision to maximise the success of business and IT enterprise initiatives.
  • Shape business requirements by making recommendations and suggesting alternatives for proposed solutions
  • Obtain a deep understanding of relevant business area(s) to be able to recommend solutions and build high-quality requirements.
  • Use a variety of techniques to understand business requirements, such as interviews, workshops, surveys, site visits, and storyboards.
  • Translate conceptual user requirements into clear, detailed functional requirements.
  • Work with business and delivery teams to prioritize requirements.
  • Help resolve competing priorities between stakeholder groups by facilitating stakeholder discussions and escalate issues where appropriate.
  • Manage requirements scoping throughout the delivery process
  • Document current processes and models to understand inefficiencies or gaps.
  • Identify and assist in prioritizing opportunities to streamline business processes.
  • Builds successful stakeholder relationships with IT & Business leaders by developing a clear understanding of their needs, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Drives the adoption of (and commitment towards) service improvements through continuous improvement.
  • Ensure knowledge of and compliance with all Company Policies, Procedures and Rules.
  • Respond to escalated incidents in and out of hours.
  • Create a thoroughness to strive for Perfection in the data. Provide accurate input of data into the systems & challenge where data is incorrect / missing to allow for the robust use of data as a resource.

Skills and Experience Required

Education & Experience
  • Experience in a Planning/Supply chain role and/or business/industry with an excellent understanding of supply chain processes and good knowledge of relevant IT systems.
  • Good time management and problem-solving skills with an ability to work to tight timelines and changing priorities.

Knowledge/Skills
  • Exceptional project or task coordination skills, with the ability to communicate the work required.
  • Ability to quickly learn the objectives, structures, operations, and policies of a new business area.
  • Strong problem resolution, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Proven interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information in a condensed manner to various stakeholders verbally and in writing.
  • Experience creating documentation such as business procedure documentation or business requirements summaries.
