You will serve as a key member of a global team focused on policy and partnerships related to cybersecurity and technology. In this role you will support activities that enable the firm to meet technology and cybersecurity expectations, as well as advance global public policy and partnerships that support the firm's technology and cybersecurity goals. We will look to you to bring experience in public policy, regulatory engagement, policy writing, along with strong team skills to help us successfully execute the team's goals. You will support the EMEA lead while working on our global team with colleagues in APAC, LATAM, and North America. Our team sits within the Cybersecurity and Technology Controls group and works closely with Global Technology and the Office of Regulatory Affairs and Government Relations.

This is a tremendous opportunity to learn about high-priority initiatives and collaborate with colleagues throughout the firm. Working at the intersection of public policy, regulation, technology, and cybersecurity, you will sharpen your understanding of cyber risk management and strategy while developing your leadership, management, and communication skills. The role requires a keen and demonstrated interest in technology and cybersecurity regulatory policy. Success will hinge on your ability to work collaboratively in a team, a proactive mindset, and the ability to build new relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders. Experience from a large financial institution, government department, regulator, or a trade association, would be a desirable background and would help you hit the ground running.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support team members and drive policy initiatives and workstreams, including those focused on cyber risk management, data localization, technology sovereignty and fragmentation, quantum computing and cloud computing
  • Closely follow global regulatory initiatives and develop policy positions to drive industry advocacy, including drafting of white papers and reports
  • Develop strategies to advance the teams' objectives across EMEA and globally
  • Conduct analysis of relevant public and regulatory policy that help to assess impacts to the bank, and thematic analysis of potential developments
  • Draft executive level briefings for the firm's senior executives, and support firm-wide reporting on policy positions and advocacy progress
  • Build strong external relationships and represent the firm with the public sector, industry peers, trade associations, think-tanks, academia, and consortia

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • A demonstrated interest in government policy making, technology and cybersecurity regulations, international relations, and national cyber security strategies, both in the UK and the EU
  • Ability to work well on a team and build strong relationships
  • Superior analytical skills to assess changes and impacts in the regulatory landscape
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, i.e., ability to break down complex problems and articulate them clearly to a non-technical audience
  • Results-oriented with a bias to action, initiative and the ability to anticipate next steps
  • Ability to prioritize issues and manage competing tasks
  • Fluency in written and verbal English. German would be a plus
  • Most important is a strong interest in cybersecurity and a desire to learn
