Your Role and Responsibilities
As an IBM Architect, you will bring hybrid-cloud technical expertise to deliver transformative solution for our client's complex business problems, encompassing development using the cloud (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud), container platforms, and migration/modernisation of existing applications. You will define the technical scope and vision for projects to deliver customized solutions across cloud and on-premises. You will be a technical leader, serving as liaison among business partners, technical teams and project stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include :
  • Providing architecture leadership for our customers' digital and cloud transformations from system requirements through delivery and production/deployment, providing architectural and hands-on technical leadership to ensure overall solution integrity.
  • Bringing deep technical and cloud expertise to enable the delivery of innovation solutions that are tailored to the specific needs of our customers.
  • Building strong relationships with our clients and acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Lead project team members while supporting the project manager from a technical point of view as an architect
You will be confortable working in 'rainbow' teams with multiple different suppliers or as part of a wholly IBM team. Your background is likely to be a mix of large-scale waterfall deliveries and more agile projects. You will be a hands-on professional with a proven track-record in keeping your skills up to date ideally evidenced through recognised certifications. You may already be working as an experienced architect, or working in a hands-on role as Developer or DevOps Engineer and seeking to gain greater architectural experience, building on your technical skills.

  • Experience designing & delivering technical architectures (e.g. application, infrastructure, integration, security or data)
  • Public cloud technology experience (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, Kubernetes,...)
  • Good understanding & delivery experience of cloud native architectures, or of migration of on-premises systems to cloud
  • You are ligible for a Security Clearance (SC) in the UK
Required Technical Expertise
Good knowledge of system design & delivery working with solutions composed of technologies such as :
  • Java or JavaScript frameworks (e.g. React, Angular, Springboot)
  • Enterprise integration technologies (e.g. Kafka, MQ, IBM Streams, ESBs, ETL,...)
  • Enterprise level persistence technologies (e.g. Oracle, Postgres, DB2, NoSQL, Redis, Graph,...)
  • Devops and Infrastructure as Code automation technologies (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Git, Jenkins,...)

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience using Agile delivery methods (e.g. Scrum) and good understanding of scaled agile delivery methods (e.g. SAFe, LeSS)

Good knowledge of system design & delivery working with solutions composed of technologies such as :
  • Estimation experience (top down, bottom up, planning poker,...)
  • Experienced in arcdhitectural languages or framworks (UML, Zachman, TOGAF,...)
