Passionate about planning? Curious about effective communications? We're looking for a highly organised, energetic, curious and creative individual to help us relaunch and revitalise our planning process across the bank's Global Communications & Brand function.

Reporting to the Head of Strategic Planning & Content in Group Reputation, the Strategic Planning Project Manager will have an opportunity to help shape the future of communications at HSBC.

They will help us understand and coordinate the plans, campaigns and activities of teams across our global network, with the aim of helping the function focus our resources and outputs on the most significant strategic themes, topics and moments to achieve greatest impact.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role, you will:

  • Own the day-to-day management of the Global Strategic Planner document, including running key meetings with the network and building relationships across the function

  • Be a proactive participant in workshops and brainstorms to add strategic and creative input into the planning process
  • Project-track large-scale projects which involve multiple teams within the Communications and Brand function via Monday.com, check-in meetings and other planning tools

  • Own short-term sprints to deliver key outputs for Group Reputation
  • Work closely with the Group Media Relations team to understand the opportunities within the proactive media runway and where reactive media engagement may necessitate changes to HSBC’s planned activities
  • Work with the Head of Strategic Planning and Content to support the Chief Communications & Brand Officer and the Communications & Brand Exco to define the objectives of the function and coordinate delivery through effective planning.
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrate previous experience in strategic planning – not necessarily at this scale, but examples of projects or activities run from conception through to delivery and measurement
  • Be an advocate for the planning process, looking to understand and support the priorities of HSBC’s businesses and markets, as well as the needs of key stakeholders
  • Show a willingness to build a network across HSBC in order to develop relationships and unlock access to information required for the planning process
  • Demonstrate an ability to develop, shape and promote the Global Strategic Planner as the essential document of Communications & Brand’s activities and priorities
  • Take a hands-on, creative and adaptable approach to tasks, including supporting the wider Strategic Planning & Content team where needed
  • An ability to independently prioritise and juggle multiple projects and workstreams at different stages with varying deadlines
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills; including an ability to articulate complex information in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
  • Have an advanced level of competency across Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrate resilience and flexibility
  • Be a self-starter, able to drive continual learning in self and others
  • The ability to work within an ambiguous environment, prioritising and reconciling competing demands and resolving complex issues.

Desirable:
