We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Risk and Internal Control Senior Manager

HSBC announced its ambition to become a net zero bank in October 2020, including an aim to align its financed emissions to net zero by 2050, and to provide between $750 billion and $1 trillion in sustainable finance and investments over the next 10 years.

The role holder will support the development of analyses and insights to inform management decision making related to HSBC’s ambition to align its financed emissions globally to net-zero outcomes by 2050.



In this role, you will:
  • Identify areas for improvement in the function’s global operations in relation to risk and control management.
  • Develop and lead the global implementation of solutions to improve the function’s efficient risk management.
  • Co-ordinate and deliver effective MI to support decision making at key risk meetings.
  • Track and manage to completion Management Self-Identified Issues (MSIIs) and issues raised by 2LOD or 3LOD.
  • Provide oversight and guidance for 1LOD risk management activities including close coordination with BIRO and BCP plan writer to ensure sufficient approach to controlling functional risks.
  • Provide relevant training and awareness to ensure risk issues are understood.
  • Be expected to coordinate and own risk issues internal to the function with oversight from the Global Head of Operations and Risk Control.
  • Oversee the Sanctions Screening for our charity relationships.

Requirements
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
  • Substantial experience within risk and controls within financial services
  • Have undertaken Risk and Control activities at a regional or global level
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainability, environmental and community issues
  • Previous background of working in a matrix organisational structure
  • Has evidence of senior level delivery in a similar role within a global organization
  • Excellent writing skills and experience of preparing board level report
  • Have a strong understanding of the global regulatory and economic environment
  • Have good process analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Have the ability to quickly understand customer requirements and concerns and deliver a quality result to them.
  • The ability to build relationships by communicating, influencing and negotiating effectively with ExCo heads, senior managers and Risk/Audit functions.

Location for this role is London with hybrid working
