Summary

We are seeking an Economic Analyst to join us in a specialist analytical role working formally with the Senior Economist to provide economic analysis and to conduct and manage economic research on behalf of Historic England and the wider heritage sector.

You will use your economic, analytical and administration skills to contribute to developing our approach to economic measurement of the historic environment, particularly in relation to evaluation. Your research and insight will be strongly guided by current government guidelines such as the Green Book and Magenta Book.

More generally you will help to make the case for the historic environment, through published advocacy-focused research, Heritage Counts and other appropriate routes. You will help to ensure that the Treasury, Cabinet Office, DCMS and other relevant Departments have relevant summaries of data and evidence delivered in ways that are most likely to bring about a more positive view of heritage.

What you will be doing :

As Economic Analyst you will support an exciting research package producing evidence about the economic value of the heritage sector. ·

In particular, you will support the Senior Economist with the development of new valuation techniques that better capture the total value of heritage including non-use values of heritage.

You will work closely with internal and external colleagues, particularly the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS) on the developing and pushing the boundaries of economic analysis.

Who are we looking for:

  • Completion of relevant degree-level module(s) or significant relevant experience.
  • Experience of research, evaluation and data analysis in a relevant field.
  • An understanding of economic research methods and techniques.
  • An Ability to summarise quantitative and qualitative data and communicate this clearly, concisely and effectively to internal and external audiences.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Statistical packages, Word and Outlook.
