About the Role:
The role involves being responsible for carrying out daily waste collection and processing activities in a safe, timely and efficient manner, to ensure all facilities are fit for purpose; as well as delivering high levels of customer satisfaction.
Working Hours:
Monday 08.30 – 17.00
Tuesday 08.30 – 17.00
Wednesday 08.30 – 17.00
Thursday 08.30 – 17.00
Friday 08.00 – 14.00
Lunchtime is 30 minutes long, normally taken at 13.30, with 2 x 10-minute breaks to be taken at 11.00 & 15.30 (unless the vehicles require loading)
The waste will be delivered to the waste pad by lift truck and placed in the drop off zone, from here, the waste will then be segregated into the correct waste stream.
- Cardboard will be redirected to the cardboard baler (unless the cardboard is too big for the baler, this will be placed into the designated cardboard skip)
- Hazardous Waste will be removed from the hazardous waste bins and segregated according to waste type and placed into the correct bins / skips / drums. The correct PPE must be used for this (FFP3 mask, safety glasses & gauntlets)
- General Waste will be directed to the compactor, or general waste skip if it is too large to place in the compactor
- Paint Waste Liquids IBC’s will be stored in the drum compound and clearly identified as Water or Solvent based
- Paint Waste Containers (contaminated) to be placed into the paint waste skip
- Wood will be placed into the wood skip, good pallets to be stacked according to size
- Ferrous Metals to be placed into the ferrous metal skip
- Alloy Metals (clean) to be placed in the correct skip
- Alloy Metals (dirty) to be placed into the correct skip
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Completing Equipment Check Sheets
- Working in accordance with all site and Health & Safety Legislation
- Working in accordance with the companies 5S policies
- Checking inside Factories 5,8 & 9 for overflowing bins and emptying if necessary
- Collecting, emptying & returning bins to various locations
- Ensuring safety checks are carried out on all equipment being used
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
- Excellent communication skills
- Good general knowledge of Health & Safety at Work
- Able to work effectively within a team and individually
- Willing to undertake training to deliver a quality service
