About the team?

Reporting to the Head of Fleet Production the successful candidate will be joining a Depot Production leadership team which supports the business and its customers (Alstom, Cross Country, and Hitachi) delivery on a complex set of requirements. The role is based at the recently rebuild and extended maintenance facility at Long Rock depot, has leadership and management responsibilities for a wonderful team people with a diverse range of maintenance and cleaning skills who proudly and professionally support our Sleeper, GWR and our customer's fleets.

About the job?

The Head of Fleet Production has an opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to lead the team at our Long Rock Depot. The depot is the home of the Sleeper Service, responsible for all the light and heavy maintenance on the Sleeper vehicles in service and also provides servicing for other GWR, Cross Country and Hitachi fleets. The team currently consists of Production Technicians and Engineering support, along with the Shunting and Plant teams. The role also manages the interface on site with customers such as Alstom, Cross Country, and Hitachi.

Your main responsibilities will be:

Day-to-day operation of the depot, as well as developing longer term plans for the facility. This will involve ensuring that resource requirements are identified and integrated into Business Plans and are deployed to deliver the service requirements.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the depot and its staff comply with the requirements of the Safety, Quality, Environmental and Energy Management Systems.

There will also be an On-Call requirement.

About you?

• Be always motivated and resilient
• leadership and organisational skills are essential as well as knowledge of budgetary control to manage a substantial budget.
• A knowledge of Health and Safety Requirements (OHSAS18001), Quality and Environmental Systems (ISO9001, ISO14001), Energy Management certification (ISO 16001), suppler assessment (ACOP 1003) is also required.

What do I need?

To be successful you must possess a relevant engineering qualification (as a minimum this should be a recognised engineering apprenticeship or Level 3 N.V.Q.), coupled with extensive supervisory and line management engineering experience at depot level or equivalent

Working pattern?

37 hrs per week with an on-call commitment and an expectation of regular out of hours visits (it's a 24/7 operation). There is some travel to other depots and suppliers required periodically.
