Glasgow Caledonian University - the University for the Common Good - is a vibrant, values-led, multi-cultural, civic University with a global outlook and strong commitment to delivering social innovation and sustainable development in its education and research.

Our organisational strategy is aligned with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and our globally recognised researchers advise governments, industry and international bodies. We’re ranked fourth in the world and first in the UK for promoting gender equality, in the top 70 universities globally for social impact, and first in Scotland for health and wellbeing, and reduced inequalities, for which we are also ranked 21st in the world (THE Impact Rankings, 2022). In 2020-21, we contributed £1.7 billion and more than 14,000 jobs across the globe (BIGGAR Economics, 2022).

GCU is committed to widening participation, and delivering positive outcomes for our students. We are Scotland’s leading provider of Graduate Apprenticeships. With campuses in Glasgow, London and New York, we have transnational partnerships around the world, supporting more than 22,000 students from 130 countries. Guided by our values – integrity, responsibility, creativity and confidence - we transform the lives of the people and communities we serve.

We are looking to appoint a Quality Officer (Assurance and Enhancement) to work within the Department of Quality Assurance and Enhancement. The Department is situated within the Academic Registrar’s portfolio together with Registry and School Professional Services. The mission of the Department is to work in partnership with academic, professional service colleagues, students and the Students’ Association to safeguard the academic standards of the University’s taught and research degree provision and to enrich the quality of the student learning experience through the promotion of quality enhancement. Central to this mission is a commitment to support the development and implementation of effective and robust policies, regulations and practices on quality assurance and enhancement.

Under the overall direction of the Quality Assurance and Enhancement Manager, the role-holder will take responsibility for the provision of professional support in relation to the processes and procedures that underpin quality assurance, enhancement and accreditation at University and School or Academic Unit level.

We are looking for an experienced administrator with excellent organisational and communication skills to work as part of a team. The ideal candidate will be motivated, enthusiastic and committed to providing high quality professional support. The candidate must be educated to degree level or equivalent and have well developed IT skills to include relevant office systems and database packages. It would be desirable for candidates to have experience of working in Scottish higher education and an understanding of quality enhancement and assurance practice and issues within the sector.

If you would like further details about the role, please contact Alen MacKinlay, Associate Academic Registrar (Quality Assurance and Enhancement) at A.MacKinlay@gcu.ac.uk
