  • 0FTE Lecturer in Environmental Management (open ended opportunity)
  • 6FTE Lecturer in Environmental Management (fixed term opportunity for three years)

The School of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment is seeking to recruit 3 Lecturers in the subject area of Environmental Management.

Post 1: Lecturer in GIS and Environmental Management (1.0 FTE – Open-ended)

The applicants should be qualified to at least Masters level in Environmental Management with proven expertise in GIS. The successful applicant will also have academic (teaching/research) or professional experience in Environmental Management and academic or professional experience in at least one of the following areas: waste treatment technologies, water quality and treatment, energy technologies, urban development and climate change impacts, environmental impact assessment, climate justice.

Post 2: Lecturer in Environmental Management (1.0 FTE Open-ended)

The applicant should be qualified to at least Masters level in Environmental Management and have academic (teaching/research) or professional experience in Environmental Management, and academic or professional experience in at least two of the following areas: waste treatment technologies, water quality and treatment, energy technologies, urban development and climate change impacts, environmental impact assessment, climate justice, GIS.

Post 3: Lecturer in Environmental Management (0.6 FTE Part Time)

The applicant should be qualified to at least Masters level in Environmental Management or related area and have academic or professional qualifications or experience in technical environmental management or environmental engineering, with a focus on energy. The applicant should have a commitment to either the completion of a PhD or to develop their research profile and publications output over the period of the 3-year contract.

Ideally the successful candidates for these posts will be chartered, or near chartered, with an appropriate professional body. The applicants should have a strong desire to build on their experience through teaching, scholarly activity, and research to prepare the next generation of professionals in Environmental Management is essential. They will be committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and net-zero carbon and bring this focus to their activity at GCU.

The Department of Civil Engineering and Environmental Management has Environment programmes at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. The successful candidates will be expected to make a significant contribution to the teaching and research capability of the Department. In addition, the new post holder will also be expected to play a role in the on-going development of the Environmental Management subject area at both programme and module level.
