About The Role

The EMEA Finance organisation is a team of approximately 70 supporting the EMEA region of FTI Consulting across all areas of Finance: Billing, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Accounting, Tax and Planning & Analysis.

This role is focused on management accounting and support to our business Segments, primarily our Strategic Communications practice, in the reporting of their monthly P&L performance from revenue recognition through to EBITDA.

What You'll Do

Participate in accounting for segment finance activities, primarily revenue recognition. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of US GAAP / IFRS, as well as experience with revenue recognition, reporting, and controls. This person will report to the Segment Finance Manager and interact with global finance colleagues.

Monthly accounting close


  • Review sales contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition under ASC 606 for US GAAP
  • Analyse and understand various products/business and revenue/expense streams to ensure proper setup in the system and proper revenue recognition
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries to record work in progress ('WIP') and accounts receivable reserves, bad debt expense, and other adjustments
  • Prepare and post journal entries required under US GAAP and local statutory GAAP reporting principles including:
    • Bonus accruals and other incentive compensation items
    • Expense accruals
    • Intercompany reconciliations and balancing entries
  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliations in line with SOX requirements
  • Strict adherence with the SOX compliance process (handle SOX queries, SOX self-assessment)
  • Link with FP&A teams to provide input on business performance
  • Other special projects, ad hoc support and duties as directed by the EMEA Segment Finance Manager
Internal & External Audit Process


  • Assist with preparation of annual statutory accounts across the EMEA team
  • Provision of financial and non-financial information to external auditors
  • Provision of financial information to internal audit team for US GAAP testing and group audit requirements

What You Will Need to Succeed

  • Ability to prioritise and work to tight month-end deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Committed and tolerance to irregular hours due to reporting deadlines
Basic Qualifications (or equivalent)


  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Strong understanding and practical experience of recognising revenue
  • Experience of performing month end close process either within industry or from an audit/review perspective
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables and analysis formulas
Preferred Qualifications (or equivalent)


  • Knowledge of US GAAP (or IFRS) or other European GAAP
  • Knowledge of a US internal control environment e.g., SOX
