We are keen to speak to Economists interested in joining our Competition practice. Our Competition team works closely with clients and legal counsel, providing a mix of strategic advice and technical support. We assist in pre-empting issues, in producing and responding to technical analysis, in preparing client submissions and expert reports and in giving oral evidence. The latest examples of our work can be found here.

We are looking for talented team players, with specialised skills and valuable expertise in Competition, who have a desire to advance their career path. As a Consultant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Accurately delivering work that has been scoped by others using a range of techniques.
  • Engaging professionally with clients; actively listening and understanding their perspective and needs.
  • Identifying how the relevant economic framework, as set out by project managers, will address the case in hand.
  • Applying relevant core micro theory and empirical techniques across a range of Competition projects.
  • Delivering high quality technical work by applying best practice.
  • Identifying key results from analysis (that will prove or disprove key hypotheses).
  • Adapting written work to the target audience in terms of style and level of information.
  • Supporting peers in preparing well structured, clear, client deliverables.

Although this role will predominantly focus on Competition related projects, we strongly encourage all of our Economists to work across Frontier’s different practice areas – that is, to be ‘fungible’. Fungibility benefits both individuals and the firm as a whole, and we believe it is core to maintaining our values and our culture.

In addition to stimulating and thought-provoking project work, we offer numerous benefits to support you inside and outside of work. All employees have access to numerous Learning & Development opportunities including ongoing Career Development Reviews with the support of an allocated Mentor.

We understand the importance of work/life balance and offer flexible working arrangements including working from home. In addition we provide 28 days annual leave with the option to purchase an additional 10.

Frontier is entirely owned by its employees. As Shareholders, we encourage everyone to put forward their views. Not only do we influence how the company is run but we choose to distribute as much of our profits as is prudently possible through bonuses. In addition we offer a highly rewarding salary.

If you would like to become part of our team, we are interested in talking to candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Analysis & Problem solving skills
: Experienced economists who can accurately deliver work that has been scoped by others using a range of techniques.
  • Communication skills: Consultants who can communicate successfully and professionally to clients and colleagues.
  • Work Management skills: Organised individuals who understand their own and colleagues’ roles on projects consistently deliver work scoped by others.
  • Client relationship skills: An awareness of how to work professionally with clients in a range of situations.
  • Contribution to Frontier values: A genuine interest in identifying and developing opportunities to make Frontier a better place to work.

We are open to having introductory conversations about Frontier, the practice and potential upcoming roles. Please be mindful you must be fluent in the language of the country you are applying for.

We expect the successful candidate to have the ability to apply a range of microeconomics tools to policy and business issues. Therefore you should have at least a degree with a main focus in economics or another highly analytical/quantitative discipline. You will also be able to communicate complex economic arguments in non-technical language, and to build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues. It is desirable for candidates to have prior economic consulting experience in competition economics.

Should you have any questions or would like any additional information please email recruitment@frontier-economics.com. We are looking forward to receiving your application.
