Experienced Pizza Chef

We are looking for a hands on, experienced pizza chef to support the business in the following daily kitchen operations:

• Prep for shift
• Service inc close down
• Dough making / balling
• Adherence to food hygiene and safety processes
• Working in a low waste kitchen
• Involvement in new menu updates - opportunity for creativity

We use local, seasonal, well sourced ingredients incorporating regenerative farming practices which benefit the world around them. Each of our suppliers cares where their food comes from and how it is produced. Pizza is a UNIVERSAL language and we are spreading a message of regenerative & sustainable food solutions to the wider masses.

We make everything from scratch, go wild on ingredients, and pickle and ferment. We use exceptional ingredients from credible suppliers.

The ideal candidate will pride themselves on their pizza making skills and delivering of quality food every time. They will enjoy working alongside the two founders of the business and contribute ideas to regularly changing menus. They will enjoy working in a friendly, inclusive workplace, be calm under pressure and be kind. They will possess a creative flair alongside high organisational skills to ensure the kitchen is kept safe and tidy.

Estimated weekly hours and shifts

• 30 hours per week
• Mix of day and night shifts. Straight shifts. Generally, the latest finish is 10.30pm.

Who are we?

Flat Earth is a 35 cover restaurant that opened 1 year ago and serves creative, meat-free pizzas that are kind to the planet. We are an award-winning sustainable business, featured in the ‘top 10 eco restaurants’ in Evening Standard, alongside the likes of Silo.

Our first permanent location opened in April 2022, following 2 years on the East London pop up scene, and has been featured in the likes of Vogue’s round up of ‘World Class Pizzas’.

Situated on the corner of Vyner Street, a stone's throw from Regent's Canal, we champion local, seasonal ingredients, British flour and heritage grains. Vegetarian as standard, yet voted 3rd best plant-based pizza in the UK at the recent National Pizza Awards. An all day brunch offer is strong offering skillet dishes baked in our pizza oven, served with our homemade focaccia. We’re known for our selection of organic wine on tap, draught beer and botanical cocktails as well as Climpson & Sons speciality coffee.

Heralded as '1 of the top 3 eco-restaurants in London' by Evening Standard, Flat Earth have won lots of awards for their sustainability initiatives. Flat Earth is proudly zero to landfill and adopts a 'root to shoot' philosophy to minimise food waste. Any small amount of unavoidable food waste is turned into fertiliser for local farms.

Why do we exist?

Flat Earth was created to provide solutions to 3 problems identified that were contributing to the negative impact the broken food system has on the planet:

• Reduce meat intake >> veggie / vegan pizzas for all
• Poor sourcing of ingredients >> regularly changing menu using seasonal and local ingredients
• Food waste >> root to shoot philosophy, using up the whole of the veg and using ancient preservation methods (pickling / fermentation) to increase the life of the vegetable
