Job Introduction

Would you like to be part of a creative and highly supportive Educational Psychology Service (EPS), learning to apply psychology to improve outcomes for children, young people/adults, their families, and staff in a range of educational settings?

If you do, we can offer you an Assistant Educational Psychology role at any of our three main bases: Lewes, St Leonards-on-Sea, or Eastbourne, with all the experience and support you need to apply to become an Educational Psychologist.

As an Assistant Educational Psychologist, you will learn about and support the work of our Educational Psychologists and make a unique contribution to the inclusion of children and young people in their schools and colleges. You will also have opportunities to contribute to a range of projects relating to one or more of the following key priorities: Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing; Pupil Participation; Parental Engagement; Early Years Transition; Technological Innovation; Emotional Literacy Support Assistant training; and Preparation for Adulthood.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Are reflective and want to learn.
  • Can take an active role in creating positive change.
  • Remain non-judgemental when encountering difficult interactions.
  • Enable children and young people to participate meaningfully in decisions that affect them.
  • Actively promote and support educational and social inclusion.

To apply for this role, please follow the ‘Apply Now’ button above. When completing your application be sure to address how you meet all the criteria in the person specification drawing on any relevant work/life experience, education, or personal interests.

Interviews will take place in person on Tuesday 20 June 2023 at County Hall, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes BN7 1UE.

Working with East Sussex EPS is an extremely supportive experience, as our service is based on shared values and a shared love of learning. You will be part of a small team of Assistant Educational Psychologists and Trainee Educational Psychologists, who are all very friendly and collaborative in their work. Our service is highly regarded alongside a wide range of other early intervention and inclusion services.

You will have autonomy and flexibility in terms of working hours and up to two days per week working from home. There is a generous travel allowance. You’ll be working in a beautiful and varied environment, including coastal, rural, and urban, with each presenting unique challenges and rewards.

Full-time fixed-term contract to the end of August 2025

We offer a diverse range of benefits to help and support you during your employment. More information can be found on our benefits page.
