THE GIG

It is an exciting time for Dr. Martens as we continue a journey of significant growth, expansion, and improvement. The DM Technology team is at the core of this – transforming technology into a key business enabler. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on, outcome focussed technology lead, fulfilling a newly transformed role in our global product and agile organisation. You are passionate about technology, enjoy coaching people for success and have a deep understanding of Finance processes.

This pivotal role will focus on our Finance function and how they can use technology to enhance their operations. You will possess an up-to-date view of leading practice in this area and will play a technical lead role across all BAU activities as well as continuous business and systems improvement initiatives at a global level. You will report to the Domain Delivery Lead for our Corporate domain, working with a globally distributed team and building strong partnerships with functional Finance leaders in all regions.

As our Business Solutions Manager for Finance Systems, you will be responsible for:

  • Act as a key member of the Finance product team, part of the Corporate domain, attending and participating in agile ceremonies.
  • Lead the delivery of finance systems activity to the Finance function – month-end, period-end, issue investigation and resolution, reporting, scenario analysis.
  • Support the continual improvement of the Finance product team through technology, via but not limited to:
  • Development of cross-functional process design
  • Adoption of business systems and operational best practices
  • Implementation of conventions & standards (including agreed terminology)
  • Advice on optimal solutions available for immediate business process requirements
  • Support relationships and management of service levels with third-party service and solution providers.
  • Pro-actively engage Finance stakeholders in order to influence key business decisions and conduct regular “operational service reviews” to confirm plans, prioritisation and delivery are in-line with stakeholder expectation.
  • Hire, onboard, develop and retain a high-performing team of IT professionals. You’ll have direct line management responsibility for Business Solutions Specialists within the DM Finance product teams.
  • Ensure that there is sufficient systems process documentation and that security controls are robust and working in line with expectations.
  • You will bring the outside in & keep up to date with emerging technology developments within the Microsoft D365 space, updating business stakeholders of pipeline improvements and the value they could bring.
  • In a technology context, working with the domain leadership team, you will support internal customers, including the CFO and Finance Leadership team to develop and iterate the Finance technology strategy.
  • Partner closely with the Finance team to get the most out of Microsoft D365; inspiring them with technology solutions and the value they bring.
  • Direct the development and subsequent delivery of future systems roadmaps to support the future operating model for the Finance function.
  • Analyse requirements, design, specify and implement technology solutions in line with the business and Finance strategy that will add value to the business.

THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART

  • Ideally have experience as a Finance workstream lead or senior member of the team.
  • Experience with agile ways of working.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft technologies including Dynamics AX/365FO (essential).
  • You’ll have a strong accounting background and understand financial business processes
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems and integrations.
  • You will be a strong people manager and role model with a track record of developing a high-performing team of professionals and maximising engagement.
  • Combination of detail orientation and big picture thinking, able to develop testing strategy and translate this into business plans that deliver the right outcomes.
  • Comfortable writing clear business documentation, such as business process documents, technical specifications and training documents.
  • Change oriented – actively generates process improvements, champions and drives change initiatives, confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways, balances multiple and competing priorities and executes accordingly.

This role plays a key part of our Corporate domain so your technical capability will go hand in hand with the below:

  • Great leadership and relationship management that delivers results through effective teamwork
  • You’ll partner effectively with the wider IT team to build a highly engaged team – you’ll embed a collaborative culture and ensure the team have direction, guidance & support; coaching will be your go-to
  • You will take ownership for your own development, proactively seeking out feedback to build self-awareness; you’ll prioritise the development of those around you and will take an active role in creating other future leaders
  • You will bring the outside-in, you’ll share best practice across the team / business and encourage ideas sharing as well as collaborative problem solving
  • You’ll lead the way and role model on all things DE&I & wellbeing
