Grocery Ecommerce Lead

There is an exciting new opportunity to come and join Diageo Digital sales team as a Grocery Ecommerce Lead.

As a Grocery Ecommerce Lead, there is opportunity to develop your Digital experience partnering with some of our key grocery customers.

This role is an integral part of the team managing the strategic long term and day-to-day relationship with key grocery customers, building winning strategic and category partnerships, managing our online mix and bringing digital to live in the off trade function. You will bring a solutions driven approach, working closely with the Head of Digital Sales, you’ll solve category problems and find opportunities to succeed with our customers.

Key responsibilities

Strategy/Ownership
  • Support and influence account planning cycles to champion the digital channel and input digital pillars in the account joint business planning process.
  • Thought leadership working with GB and global teams to understand the future of the retail climate and work with account teams to bring the e-grocery element to life.
  • Work with the data science teams to co create digital data tools to utilise consumer data to create learnings and best practice.
  • Own and shape the digital execution and growth strategy for the grocers alongside the respective Account teams and Customer Marketing Managers.
  • Drive online market share, whilst driving product mix management and delivery through online initiatives within the grocery.com accounts, growing Diageo share and the size of the total category.
  • Develop an external contact strategy with key category and contacts across the retailers to build and enhance Diageo’s digital and grocery relationships.
  • Build a jointly agreed yearly execution and category plan aligned to the Diageo strategy and commercial agenda.
  • Create and manage an active performance scorecard to share with the customer and internal collaborators.
  • Work with the Diageo Customer Marketing Managers to build and implement annual activation plan for Online with a true unified commerce strategy.
  • Ensure new product launches are featured on time at launch, and to high quality standard.
  • Work with cross functional internal and external teams to develop category activation solutions for Online and bring digital brand initiatives to life at the point of purchase.
  • Track competitor activity on the site, and report on Diageo’s performance, ensuring we are constantly reviewing and learning.
  • Work closely with systems and commercial finance to manage the dot.com P&L and review the mix delivery of the account and to the drive performance leaver to deliver against the strategic plan.

Execution
  • Negotiate online touchpoints, book the media and create the artwork.
  • Align execution plan and costs with Customer Marketing Manager who own the customer spend.
  • Lead the analysis for the digital element of each customer execution and shape/share the findings from this both internally and externally to constantly improve the performance of digital activation in grocery.
  • Drive the digital agenda with the Customer Marketing team and wider multifunctional support team including innovative activation and associated spend/return on investment predictions.
  • Incorporated within cross functional monthly cycle meetings.
  • Lead digital element of Customer Brand Days for all grocers.
  • Become an integral member of the account team ensuring digital is considered for through all projects and touchpoints internally and externally.

Experience required
  • Passion for digital.
  • Strong experience in a marketing, sales or off trade role, with customer facing experience.
  • Ability to interact and influence at multiple levels.
  • Excellent relationship building and communication skills – with the ability to flex and adapt style.
  • Problem solver & solution-based teammate who can deal with ambiguity & adapt quickly
  • High resilience & positive attitude – able to build powerful relationships and work collaboratively within a team cross-functionally
  • Time management & prioritisation skills
  • High attention to detail.
