Personal Care Assistant

PERSONAL INFORMATION

I’m a disabled lady living in the Hirwaun area, near Aberdare. I share my home with my husband. I employ several personal assistants who provide other care and support. I have Multiple Sclerosis, which has affected my mobility, and therefore I use a wheelchair permanently with a vertical lift to my bedroom. I use hoists to assist me with transferring safely in my home and spend much of my time at home though I am active and involved in some outside voluntary work. I enjoy going out socialising, which includes shopping, meeting friends and also an active member of a voluntary organization.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To provide me with support at home and in the community

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

· Transfers using hoist

· Toileting

· Dressing/Undressing

· Washing & Continence management

· Laundry

· General household tidying

· Meal preparation

· Accompanying me out and managing my wheelchair

TRANSFERS

Training and instruction will be provided by myself, my personal assistants, though the method is simple with no actual lifting is involved.

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid two weekly and appropriate holiday pay given (5.6 weeks pro rata). I will use Dewis Centre for Independent Living to assist me with the payroll.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer via the Local Authority.

The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK

Salary: £10.50-£10.70 per hour
