Payroll Consulting is a growth area for Deloitte within our Payroll and Workforce Management department. We help our clients with the end-to-end process of the implementation of their payroll. Over the past year, our Payroll Consulting team have been involved in a wide variety of projects working in the following business sectors including; Retail, Hospitality, Travel and Manufacturing. The Deloitte Payroll Consulting team are system and vendor agnostic which enables us to build relationships and work with all the major payroll vendors providing UK and global services.

Our consultants take the lead on supporting and delivering the end-to-end implementation process. As a consultant, you will use your training and professional expertise, to deliver the best possible experience and outcomes for our clients.

You will have an opportunity to work with and support a growing and dynamic team within the firm and will be expected to proactively identify innovative solutions for your clients and help them improve their payroll function.

You will be a team player and who enjoys learning new skills, while sharing your current knowledge and expertise with others, as well as continuing to build your own technical expertise or specialism.

Responsibilities include:

  • Takes an active role in pre-sales and bid development
  • Develops strong relationships with our clients
  • Regularly attends Payroll User Groups and Events
  • Ensures that all standards and processes are adhered to for any deliverables produced
  • Facilitate client workshops throughout the implementation lifecycle
  • To assist clients through the various phases of implementation, including, not limited to; User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Parallel testing through to Go Live
  • Help clients understand their payroll function and identify potential improvement solutions

You’re a natural communicator. Someone who has excellent written and verbal communication skills and can present technical concepts through presentations, meeting minutes, workshop participation and business and report writing, sharing your analytical insights in a clear and concise manner.

You’ll love project-work and have effective prioritisation management and organisation skills, with excellent attention to detail. Someone who is a strong-team player, brings out the best in others and is a brilliant listener. You’ll grow our business without compromising standards, integrity or culture.

  • CIPP or similar qualified or equivalent experience
  • Experience of being part of or managing a payroll work stream within a large project (client-facing or internal)
  • Understanding of operational payroll within a large organisation or payroll vendor
  • Experience of the full annual payroll cycle
  • Experience of being part of a team to successfully delivered payroll work stream project deliverables including scoping, planning, reviewing and achieving sign-off
  • Knowledge and understanding of payroll business processes
  • Working with 3rd parties, including payroll vendors
  • Analytical skills used to derive insight from complex and varied information sources and the ability to input into the creation of sound recommendations
  • Involvement in client seminars and the production of marketing materials

Location: The home office of this role is Manchester or Birmingham preferably; however we will consider other locations such as Bristol, Cambridge, Leeds, Newcastle or Reading.
