Energy Projects Officer

Cambridgeshire County Council is a pioneer in energy efficiency and renewable energy generation investment. This work is led by the Council’s Climate Change and Energy Service team (CCES). We are a business focused, proactive team supporting the Council to generate income and energy savings on public sector assets through the development of a variety of energy projects. The team has a strong record of delivery and bringing forward innovative projects across schools, offices and its broader portfolio of assets. The role of the Energy Projects Officer is to support the delivery of the Council’s Corporate Energy Strategy and management of utilities contracts through:

• Working with internal and external asset managers and stakeholders to develop and deliver projects that reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions and generate local renewable energy.

• Positively contributing to initiatives to reduce energy consumption across the Council’s assets, thereby reducing energy spend and carbon emissions.

• Managing the day to day administration of electricity, gas and water contracts for the Council’s assets.

• Collecting, analysing and reporting energy data from across the Council’s property, energy investment projects and schools portfolios.

The post is based at Sackville House, Cambourne, but we operate a hybrid working arrangement so the postholder would have the option to work from home for part of the week. Occasional travel to other locations within Cambridgeshire may be required from time to time.

Interviews are likely to be held at the Council's New Shire Hall office in Alconbury Weald, but may be held in Cambourne or remotely, using Microsoft Teams. The successful candidate will be a graduate (or equivalent) with a good understanding of project management and communications. Experience of working with energy management software, gas, electricity and water supplies or project delivery would be an advantage. You will be highly organised and motivated, with a proven ability to plan and prioritise your own workload and deliver to tight timescales, excellent communication skills and the ability to handle complex queries.

This is a full time post but we will consider other arrangements.
